Behind the scenes footage of Jozef Rothstein writing As the Matzo Ball Turns
On April 4th 2014, Jozef Rothstein received the Maroon and Gold Quill Award from Friends of the Bloomsburg University Library for his hilarious and well received first novel As the Matzo Ball Turns. This true Hollywood story also received a strong endorsement from Emmy Winner and former Editor of Rolling Stone Magazine, Mr. Robert Wallace, who had this to say about Rothstein's creative endeavor.
" As the Matzo Ball Turns is Day of the Locust with a side order of noodle kugel. It is a gonzo ten-year journey--in turns side-splittingly funny and heart wrenchingly sad--into the dark heart of the entertainment and restaurant business, seen through the jaundiced eyes of an aspiring actor turned waiter. This memoir will be chicken soup for the soul for anyone, anywhere, who has ever asked the eternal question, "Lord, how long must I wait?
The book was also a finalist in the 2013 Foreword Reviews Book of the Year Award in the Humor Category and has been turned into a musical that was a Top Pick in the 2017 Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Mr. Rothstein is currently writing his second prose which is expected to debut in the fall of 2026. Please check back for all of the latest news and updates.
